Smile A thank you to Anet!

Does exactly what is says on the tin Ive been playing guild wars for about a month now and im greatly enjoying it! The enviroments are beautiful and I love the story line and im having great fun trying to make my own build in pvp. I started a guild with me friends and we regularly meet up and do the missions together.

But then I came on these boards and saw so much aggression and moaning and thought that I would post saying that I really appreciate all the effort that you guys put in and love the fact that your actually willing to listen and change things about the game based on what we want! Thats fantastic! Im not saying there isnt bad points with the game but it seems to me that anet is constantly trying to balance things and make the effort to keep up communication with us.

Yeah Im disappointed that we didnt get the guild emblems by the end of june but im not going to complain about it beacuse I trust that you guys have a better understanding of what needs done in game and how to implement things then I do, youve promised we will get these things that get asked for (trade improvments etc) so Ill sit back and happily wait for them beacuse I beleive your true to your word.

I just wanted to say thanks, I dont think it gets said often enough. Just beacuse there are a lot of vocal people who frequently express their displeasure doesnt mean there isnt a lot of grateful players too.

Keep up the good work!

Maiku Seraph

EDIT: I forgot the dragon festival! (dont know how) Granted its my first festival but Im in awe of the decoration of the monestary and dragon arena. Im really enjoying it and a bit confused when some players said they thought the decorations were ugly! Thanks for all the effort you put into the festival.

no1 is saying that Guild Wars is a bad game and moaning about it, but most of the players that go on these forums hav been playing for over 13/14 months so they have experienced the highs and lows, the things anet hav rushed and not thought out properly , and the things that anet hav taken their time over which are good. Many things in this forum are written due to the fact that something needs improving, the majority of people dont flame or moan.

I agree with Maiku here - the people on this forum sometimes moan too much. ;-)

In my opinion the dragon festival is a great thing, especially now that they've given us something for the more experienced players to do (other than waste their hard-farmed cash on the rings!) Ugly decorations? I think not!

Definately agree, there's always at least one person moaning or whining on everything single thing whether it's and upgrade, patch or festival that is ever released by A-Net, they can't make everyone happy but they do a good job at making the vast majority.

Besides the festival is great, makes a change to the usuals* I do enjoy it but considering it's a five day event there isn't a great deal to do.
Theres the other factor that most people haven't really considered, since this festival is advertised as "Canthan" its most likely targetted at the new players of Guild Wars, to those that haven't had major participation in past events such as wintersday etc.
If I was a new player to the game I would definatley enjoy this event a lot more, and most new players in my guild all have very positive attitudes towards it.

Wonder what kind of event they'll conjure up next time? :P
Cheers.

People will always whine, moan, get agressive, flame and etc. EVEN if there is nothing serious to do it for. There are several very paragon examples in the logs if the forum. "OH NOES THERE WAS NO MY IDEA IN THAT UPDATE I HATE YOU ANET YOU RUINED THEGAME AND MY LIFE" likes, and the worst thing is that people that post below are like "YEAH, THEY LIED TO US, SCAM, THEYLL GET NO MONEY FROM ME /SIGNED /AGREED"
It is ugly.

There are some things we all don't like but almost none says that in normal way, most just unleash heck out of their fingers.

I envy people who have only been playing for a few months

Compared to what it was like over a year ago Guildwars has come along way and is certainly packed with great features and ooodles of things to do!

Unfortunatly players have the memory of an elephant when it comes to unfulfilled promises.

oops sorry, shouldnt use that word, anet never 'promise' anything, maybe I should say unfulfilled expectations?

Maiku do as most of us who enjoying the game and festivals do..don't try to read flaming and bitching threads..mostly they are pointless and ppl who participate there is asking or complaining about something for their personal benefit...
If you see something you don't like and majority of us don't ..make sure that A.Net will put it on their schedule to change it depending on how it's essential and vital to the game.
Enjoy the game and have fun

Oh I bitch and moan.... But I've also taken the time to thank them and compliment them on the good. I've been playing for about 10mths and yeah I've been here through many of the ups and downs (but not all). Some have been REALLY bad!

For a long while there, our RP gal wasn't getting fed info, or she (or the frog) were giving it to us in cryptic messages >_< And most of us finally got fed up with it when Factions came out.... Some of us at this point were beyond annoyed at the lack of communication. Or more so the lack of warning to changes.... Yeah yeah I know there are a bunch of people say we knew it was coming (but only if you scavenged the boards for info). Then other cryptic info about the Tengu event, the lack of CEs and so forth... It was a real headache for the players and most of us felt that Anet should know just how annoyed we were.

It would be great for it to be popping up roses 24/7, but it's not! You are still going to have complainers no matter what you do. Some do it in a more gentle manner. Some cuss up a storm. And then there are those select few that threaten to leave the game (and every 2 out of 10 of those actually do).

While I am greatful for the Dragon Festival and many other little updates, I STILL won't do ABs/12v12 and when asked why not - I let them know just how much I enjoyed what they call chaos. Granted it's gotten better, but it's still really not what I want.

However I love the scrimmage matches, the new pets (even tho I will never get a new one), and the new armors (well moreso their stats than anything else). The new weapons are great to.

But the BEST thing that I have seen from Anet and the PR is COMMUNICATION! Nothing that they can bring to the game could be half as important as that! The Scribe was a nice add in, they update their site more often. Gaile spent several hours just reading the boards and responding to people one night! NOTHING can replace that for me. And I think, so long as they keep up the great communication they will indeed have happier players.

Many rangers were mad about their pets but Gaile's post at least put the majority to rest with the: We're sorry! post.... Granted it won't fix the issue but it was a wise move nonetheless.

I just hope they keep that in mind and never go back to keeping their players in total darkness again!

If we check back in with Maiku in 14 months he will be a TAD less positive.

The only way to stay happy with Anet is to remain a VERY casual gamer. If you play a lot you will join the ranks of the !@#$%$. I am not saying Anet doesnt try to fix things ... they just worry more about the tiny percentage making RL money off the game than they do the core of it's players. Not trying to start the flame machine so I will leave off with ... Welcome to GW Maiku.

Leprekan pretty much hit it on the head. I do enjoy this game, but once you start reaching the 'ends' of different disciplines, you become keenly aware of ANET's particular deficiencies.

And there is a lot of them.

Welcome to GW its a good game - and don't let anyone ever tell you that you dont have the right to complain because it's free.

There is more moaning/groaning/whining & worthless posts about the moaning/groaning/whining.

It’s a game that has a huge following you have to expect these sorts of things.

I have been playing since the first Beta weekend and I still totally enjoy the game, but then I actually know what goes into a project like this. Sure there are issues, show me a single large scale project that DOESN'T have any.

On another note, must all you whiners take every positive thread and attempt to corrupt it with your crap?

OP... Glad to finally see a positive thread.

I've been playing GW for about 5 months now. I've thought of making just such a thread, but frankly I figured the flamers would rip me apart. Judging from some of the replies thus far.... I may not have been far off base.

Like yourself, I appreciate everything ANet does for us as gamers. Sure there are things that are missing or could be done better, but I fail to see why these little things detract so much from some peoples gameplay. The rudeness and aggression on these boards is apalling, and usually over the smallest of things. I could understand the occasional flame thread when a big mistake happens (deletion of pets, etc), but some of the rants on here are just ridiculous. Everytime I pull up these boards and look at the new threads on top, I can't help but wonder how it makes the folks at ANet feel when they pull up the pages. If it was me, I would have thrown in the towel long ago.

It's nice to see you give credit where credit is due... I've heard the aruement that all of the people who are happy with this game are too busy playing it to post about the good things. I think the truth is this: There is far to must negativity here for anyone with a positive outlook to even bother posting. This is probably my first post... and more than likely my last.

Thanks Anet.... there are people who are thankful for what you do. This is just not the best place to find them

well I am at 1500 hours GW time and still loving it.

imo its the best game I ever played, yes it got flaws but what game hasn't?

Anet try's atleast to solve these problems, but you can't expect them to give EVERYTHING for free.

You can express your oppinion, no problem with that but there have been to many kids on this forum lately (no offense, don't want to generalise but the majority of these ppl are 14-17).

anyways, I love you like the game.

Kudos to Anet for making the best game I've ever played.

There's always room for improvement and constructive feedback can make a great game even better, so I will put in my comments when I feel they can help

there are faults with the game, but come on, it's not like Anet make you pay monthly for a game which is nearly or even the same greatness of WoW.
